The Logistics Engineer is responsible to support the Logistics area (Scheduling, Purchasing, Receiving, Shipping and Materials) taking in consideration technical requirements, customer specifications, manufacturing capabilities, agency regulatory requirements; making use of modern engineering systems, materials and technologies to develop new suppliers and new materials.

Responsible to give technical support to Purchasing and Materials areas, and also to lead initiatives of product optimization, cost reduction and standardization, supporting department and company financial and efficiency increase.

Responsible to develop and optimize the material flow and manage inventory.

An understanding of customer application is necessary to perform this job, as well as manufacturing processes and industry regulations product safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and coordinate purchasing/materials cost reductions;
  • Develop, evaluate suppliers and negotiate purchase agreements with them;
  • Develop and maintain purchasing processes for sample, prototype, new and existing products;
  • Coordinate Suppliers evaluations, developing reports and leading the corrective action plans;
  • Perform suppliers visits to evaluate performance;
  • Networking with suppliers and contractors, negotiating procurement agreements, researching the market, choosing suppliers offering competitive prices, and making sure procurement transactions respect technical and legal requirements;
  • Maintain the inventory and quality inspections for purchased parts;
  • Purchasing of technical goods and services for the operation;
  • Oversee the main Logistics KPIs and develop action plans related to any undesirable results;
  • Develop optimal material flow;
  • ABC analysis, FIFO, JIT methodology to achieve inventory control;

Experience and Skills:

Required Qualifications:

  • College or university degree (Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering);
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word;
  • Strong knowledge in inventory control (ABC, FIFO, JIT, Warehouse management);
  • Capability to lead product development projects working cross-departmentally and in collaboration with a diverse set of individuals, managing project timeline, deliverables;
  • Experience using rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions;
  • Experience with SAP is a plus.
