Position Objective:

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design of new electric motors taking in consideration customer specifications, manufacturing capabilities, agency regulatory requirements; making use of modern engineering systems, materials and technologies. A profound understanding of customer application is necessary to perform this job, as well as manufacturing processes and industry regulations product safety standards. Also responsible to give technical support to manufacturing and customer of mature products currently in production, and also to lead initiatives of product optimization, cost reduction and standardization, supporting department and company financial and efficiency increase.

In order to perform this job, interaction with all areas in the company is necessary as well as with customers, so ability to build relations is very welcome.

Experience and Skills:

  • Develop, design electric motors to meet customer specifications
  • Lead projects to develop new product lines to meet specific application/segment performance requirements, also minimizing raw material and manufacturing cost, being actively involved also in key development steps, like quotes to suppliers, prototypes, DFMEA and PFMEA, manufacturability reviews, pilot runs
  • Evaluate, propose and conduct projects on existing product lines designs to improve manufacturability and/or reduce cost
  • Study and propose use of new technologies, materials, manufacturing process to minimize production costs and/or meet specific application requirements
  • Analysis of the competition landscape, application knowledge, design and technological trends.
  • Provide customer support for existing products
  • Provide technical support to other functional areas as needed
  • Performing root cause analysis and issuing reports to sales/customer from field returned products

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering
  • 5 years' experience in design of DC/AC electric motor
  • Good electric motor manufacturing process knowledge
  • Good knowledge of industry and safety standards related to electric motors
  • Motor design software experience
  • Ability to learn quickly and thoroughly while recognizing and adapting to changing conditions
  • Capability to lead product development projects working cross-departmentally and in collaboration with a diverse set of individuals, managing project timeline, deliverables.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively handle and manage multiple tasks
  • Proven success learning new industry, company, product, or technical knowledge
  • Experience using rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions
  • Action oriented and challenge driven personality
  • Demonstrated experience of creating and implementing new and unique ideas/designs MS package (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and making written and verbal technical presentations to management and/or customers
