Primary Objective of Postion:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for defining, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods and processes to optimize safety, quality, and efficiency.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Develop new or more economical manufacturing technologies.
  • Identification and implementation of methods and practices to achieve operational improvements in efficiency, quality, delivery, and operating profits.
  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards Provides technical information and recommendations concerning manufacturing techniques, materials, and process advantages and limitations which affect long range plant and engineering planning. 
  • Analyzes workforce space requirements, workflow, equipment layout, and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Develops payback calculations and justification for investment program in a form of capital justification.
  • Determination of feasibility of purchasing new plant equipment or modifying existing equipment or facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors. 
  • Preparation of capital expense request with justifications for purchase of capital equipment.
  • Manages multiple, parallel projects using proven project management techniques.
  • Attain Business Unit Metrics (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Throughput).

Working Conditions:

Work in manufacturing /machining area settings and exposed to oil, coolant and metal residues. Job requires standing or sitting for extended periods of time working with computers and machines. Require minimal supervision.

Experience and Skills:

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of two year degree in Manufacturing Technology or related degree
  • 1-2 years of experience; experience with a proven record of accomplishments and improvements.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Ability:

  • Ability to efficiently and effectively manage completion of assignments through appropriate personnel.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fabrication, machining, and assembly processes .
  • Experience implementing Lean Principles, 5S, Kaizen Events, Value Stream Mapping, and Six Sigma.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including active listening.
  • Demonstrated ability to propose, plan, and implement creative solutions in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with CAD, CNC Programming, and Tool Design.
  • Knowledge of Metals/Alloys.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, internet and e-mail.
  • Experience establishing Center Of Excellence preferred.
