WEG Commercial Motors has an immediate career opportunity for an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer. This position is best suited for a very detailed individual with a strong aptitude for computer work and who can work well under pressure. The role is responsible for driving best practices and results through continuous improvement processes and drive World Class EHS performance., and enjoys working cross-departmentally with a variety of individuals is required. This position is located in our offices in Bluffton, IN and will require little travel.

Responsibilities:

*Maintain accurate and complete EHS metrics and establish continuous improvement strategies to ensure short and long term goals are met.

*Obtain, update, maintain and audit EHS procedures, plans, permits, and standard operating procedures. Ensure compliance with Federal, State and Municipal EHS regulations as well as Corporate EHS requirements including Hazardous Waste, Wastewater, Air, DOT, RCRA, and OSHA. Stay current with pending regulations to ensure future compliance.

*Develop, write, and coordinate training and awareness programs throughout the organization as defined by regulations, policies or incident trends.

*Effectively lead an internal team to achieve EHS and Risk Management goals. Partner closely with internal employees, secure support, inform the facility of safety compliance risks and gain alignment on priorities. Create employee engagement through Safety Committees and other teams to reduce hazards and create a safer and environmentally friendly work environment.

*Analyze systemic incident causes and investigation. Work with the Safety Committee and management to develop and implement corrective action plans.

*Evaluate first aid, near misses, recordable accidents, and potential environmental threats to drive proactive programs in order to prevent future incidents.

*Oversee safety inventory and help with workers compensation program administration, including return to work programs.

*Direct site health and safety audits and inspections for applicable properties and communicate the findings, with recommendations to facility managers and other management.

*Organize Safety Kaizen events to detect, reduce or eliminate safety, health and/or environmental hazards. Determine corrective or preventive measures and follow-up to ensure measures have been implemented and standardized work is implemented.

*Ensure timely and accurate submittal of regulatory reports such as Hazardous Waste, Tier 2, Form R, and air reporting.

*Other duties and responsibilities as required.

Experience and Skills:

Requirements:

*Bachelor’s Degree

*EHS related field with 3 years of experience in role leading a team within a manufacturing plant.

*Excellent communication, interpersonal and teambuilding skills.

*Proven ability to work effectively with all levels in a matrix organization.

*Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and use sound judgment.

*Exceptional project management skills
